Social MediaTwitter can be used to send short messages about events and notices and can also be used to notify when blogs are updated. Some classes use them to communicate with other classes.
Examples of schools using Facebook to communicate with their communities. Can be used in similar ways to Twitter but longer posts are possible.

EdmodoEdmodo looks like Facebook but is designed for the classroom. It is a learning management system which includes ways to communicate with parents and students.
